As a second-generation Floridian, Michael Furen has a keen and deep-rooted interest in the Florida landscape. Since the early 1970’s, Mike has limited his practice to land use, development, real property, and administrative and governmental law. He has extensive experience in the representation of private development interests throughout Florida and beyond. He provides a total package of development legal services, including site acquisition, governmental approvals and permits, project documentation, and post development litigation matters.
Mike has significant experience with development of regional impacts and planned unit developments and in drafting various forms of development agreements between private development interests and local governments. He has also participated extensively in various aspects of legal and administrative challenges involving developments of regional impact, planned unit developments, comprehensive planning, and various zoning, special exception, variance, and other land use issues.
Mike has served as the Chairman of the Board of Icard Merrill since 1993.
